Research concept
The department "Ecophysiology and Aquaculture" researches on ecophysiological impacts of multiple environmental stressors on aquatic vertebrates as well as on scientific basic knowledge of sustainable aquaculture. Aquatic vertebrates are exposed with biotic and abiotic stressors in anthropogenic waters as well as in aquaculture systems. Our research aims to detect the basic molecular mechanisms, how these stressors affect different physiological processes of individuals. We are doing research at all levels of organisms from gene expression, biochemical parameters, cell- and organ cultures to histopathology resulting in individual changes concerning reproduction, stress, development, growth and behavior.
