This pre-project aseeses in cooperation with Hungarian partners the current status of the biological and chemical surface water quality in the Maros-Tisza region (Hungary, Romania, Serbia), as well as the perspectives of relevant stakeholders. For that purpose, it analyzes information collated and developed by the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR), by previous projects, as well as historical maps and data and national datasets. Based on that the project provides an overview about focal points of research and development in order to support sustainable management of surface waters, water use, and water-dependent biodiversity.
