Das Vorkommen von Kunststoffen in unserer Umwelt stellt eine zunehmende Belastung für die Natur und für unsere Gesundheit dar. Die Autor*innen haben nun Pilze aus Süßgewässern identifiziert, die Kunststoffpolymere aus Polyurethan, Polyethylen und Reifengummi effizient abbauen können. Entgegen bisheriger Annahmen war dafür keine Vorbehandlung der Kunststoffe notwendig.
