Esther Schneidenbach is IGB’s new Diversity Officer

IGB is strengthening its commitment to diversity and inclusion: Esther Schneidenbach has been appointed as the Institute’s new Diversity Officer. Until now, this role had been carried out alongside that of the Equal Opportunities Officer. By separating these two areas of responsibility, diversity and inclusion at the IGB will in future have a dedicated point of contact and receive additional attention.

“I want to be an easily accessible point of contact for all members of IGB regarding questions, suggestions and concerns relating to diversity and inclusion. It is important to me to highlight different perspectives within the Institute, to encourage dialogue and to work together to foster a respectful and supportive working environment”, said Esther Schneidenbach.

Possible topics include, for example, diversity-sensitive communication, breaking down barriers, taking into account different life experiences and cultural backgrounds, and raising awareness of prejudice and discrimination. For matters relating to other areas of responsibility, the Diversity Officer can provide initial guidance and refer them to the relevant departments.

By establishing this role as a standalone position, IGB emphasises the importance of diversity, inclusion and equal participation for a positive working and research environment.
