W lipcu i sierpniu 2022 roku w Odrze doszło do katastrofy ekologicznej
spowodowanej działalnością człowieka. Masowe wymieranie ryb, małży i ślimaków
rozpoczęło się na polskim odcinku Odry, a następnie rozprzestrzeniło
w dół biegu rzeki, aż dotarło do odcinka granicznego. Naukowcy szacują, że
zginęło nawet do 1000 ton ryb. Bezpośrednią przyczyną ich śmierci był produkujący
toksyny planktoniczny glon wodny, naukowo znany jako Prymnesium
parvum. Glon ten był w stanie masowo się rozprzestrzeniać z powodu wysokiego
