This project used whole genome-based approaches for the improvement of conservation and aquaculture in two sturgeon species: Atlantic sturgeon (Acipenser oxyrinchus) and Beluga (Huso huso).

Groups of decision makers can integrate their independent informational states and outperform individuals (collective intelligence). However, the extent to which collective intelligence has been shaped by natural selection in response to ecological challenges is largely unknown.

This project focuses on researching the evolutionary adaptation of Arctic Daphnia to the effects of climate change in southwest Greenland.

Aquatic fungal biodiversity

This project aims at studying the link between sex determination systems and initiation and maintenance of asexuality through a comparative analysis of gametogenesis and early embryogenesis, underlying the mechanistic basis of altered gametogenic pathways of "asexual" reproduction.

In this DFG-funded project, we will develop experiments and theoretical models testing whether explicitly accounting for interactions between key evolutionary and community processes results in a better understanding of species and community responses to environmental change.

Our project aims to understand the evolution of individual and collective intelligence in fish due to size-selective harvesting (like in fisheries) and the fitness consequences using zebrafish as a model.

Modeling and prediction of fish distributions under climate change
