Algal blooms – toxic to your four-legged friend?

Information stand for dog owners at Lake Tegel

Toxic algal blooms occur time and again in Lake Tegel and other lakes and ponds in Berlin. Dogs are particularly susceptible to getting sick from them. They love the fishy smell of the algal mats on the shore and, whilst swimming, often lap them up. A team from the IGB’s ‘Divatox’ project will be running an awareness campaign on the risks to dogs on 1 April from 11 am to 1 pm. Veterinarian Britta Geiser will be there. The information stand is located at Lake Tegel on the Schwarzer Weg, Arbeiterstrand in 13505 Berlin.
