IGB awarded TOTAL E-QUALITY certification yet again

IGB has been awarded the TOTAL E-QUALITY certification for the second time. The award recognises the Institute’s sustained commitment to equality-oriented human resources and organisational policies and is valid for the years 2026 to 2028.

The institute had previously been awarded the certification for the first time in 2023. Since then, key measures to promote equal opportunities, diversity and a respectful working environment have been further developed.

The jury particularly highlights the participatory approach of the equal opportunities strategy, which involves representatives from all staff groups. This includes, amongst other things, the ‘Code of Conduct for Collegial Interaction at IGB’, which enshrines the value of diversity and sets out a clear zero-tolerance policy towards bullying, discrimination, harassment and abuse of power.

The jury also notes positive developments in increasing the proportion of female researchers in leadership roles: IGB currently employs 248 staff members (as at 31 December 2025), 50 per cent of whom are women; in 2023, the figure was 45 per cent. Women account for 44 per cent of academic staff and 32 per cent of senior management. Three of the six department heads are now women; in 2023, the figure was two.

Furthermore, the jury commended measures to foster a working environment free from prejudice, including specific questions on experiences of discrimination in the 2024 staff survey, as well as an institute-wide survey on experiences of (micro)racism in the workplace. Initiatives to support work-life balance and to strengthen resilience were also highlighted positively.

By receiving this award once again, TOTAL E-QUALITY recognises IGB’s sustained and successful commitment to equality of opportunity and diversity. At the same time, the jury sees further potential for development in placing even greater emphasis on diversity aspects in future initiatives. IGB therefore regards the award as an incentive to further develop its equality-oriented human resources and organisational policies.
